Arizona State Workers Kept In Suspense

Please keep those of us who work for the State of Arizona in your prayers. Today is the last day for the legislature and the Governor to decide to play nice in the sandbox and pass a budget for the next fiscal year. After months of pay cuts, we are now facing the end of the fiscal year with the State Government in all out war against itself. I've never seen anything like this. I have to admit that both Kim and I are nervous. With rent due and the Agency Director saying "Don't worry, you'll get paid eventually" it's definitely what I call "floating time." That's when you know you're not in control of anything and all you can do is turn over and float. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. St. Thomas More, pray for us.

Good news. We are working today. Here is a link to the Governor's web site. She has signed the budget, but line item vetoed a number of things and called a special session in a few days. I think they all need to get some sleep before they make any other decisions.

Happy Birthday Esther!

Sacred Tradition, Scientific Verification

The bones of St. Paul the Apostle are right where the Church said they were. The God who is able to guard the accuracy of His written Word, has also guarded the accuracy of His oral Word.

Pray for Tommy and His Family

We just got a call from a friend of Esther's. His house is burning as I type this. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you. I'll keep you posted.

Follow Up: The family is safe. The house is a total loss. Tommy's dog perished in the fire. Keep the family in your prayers as they are going through so much. Tommy just put in an application to seminary. Also, Tommy is also a part of the same circle of friends who lost a friend named Katie very suddenly a couple of months ago. I'm concerned for these young people. They have been through so much lately.

Thanks for your prayers.

Stand By . . .

My laptop is in the shop, so I don't know if I'll be able to post for a few days. But in the meantime, my friend Mimi sent me this beautiful rendition of an old favorite song. Enjoy!

Oooh ya. Four words every computer owner loves to hear when they pick their computer up from the shop: Under warrantee, no charge.

Super Boy and Bat Boy Sword Fighting in the Bathroom

You only get this kind of iReporting here on Abba's Little Girl, folks. Caught in the heat of battle, these two super heroes pit their skills against each other to see who is the biggest big boy in the house. Film at eleven.

Did You Know?

DID YOU KNOW? As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view . it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments! ..

DID YOU KNOW? As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW? As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW? There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington , D.C.

DID YOU KNOW? James Madison, the fourth president, known as 'The Father of Our Constitution' made the following statement: 'We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.'

DID YOU KNOW? Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said:'It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ'.

DID YOU KNOW? Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW? Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW? Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law...
an oligarchy the rule of few over many.

DID YOU KNOW? The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said: 'Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers.' How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional? Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on. Chamber , US House of Representatives

The Ministry of John Michael Poirier

Shortly after my entrance into the Catholic Church, I attended a Marian Conference with my daughter, Esther. During this conference we heard John Michael Poirier for the first time. I was so touched by his music which is really prayer from his heart in song.

Then a couple of years ago we were sitting in Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle. We had just received Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and were kneeling in prayer. Suddenly, the organ stopped and the voice of John Michael Poirier began to sing this song that touched Esther and I profoundly. It was called "You Are Beautiful To Me" and it was not available on any of his CDs. I talked to him about it after a song service he hd later that week and he said that it would be on the next album. We've been waiting patiently for that album.

John has been through a lot the past few years. He's been battleing cancer and other challenges. In the life of someone who receives the living God in faith, tribulation worketh patience and the purifying affects of these trials can be seen in the radiance of John and his family.

If you haven't heard John pray in music, don't miss the blessing. Here is a copy of the most recent newsletter from his ministry.

Screen Door On A Submarine

My friend Jenny on facebook reminded me one of my favorite videos from one of my favorite Christian artists, Rich Mullins. My kids grew up singing this one.

Bremerton Does It Right

My dear friend, Lee Anne, sent this along to show how her parish celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi. We need more of this! This is how the Feast is celebrated in Europe and has been for many years.

Corpus Christi

I love the Feast of Corpus Chrisit. It was the Precious Body and Blood of Christ that drew me home to the Catholic Church. It is the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that brings order and peace to my life. A few years ago, I asked my daughters a question. I asked: "If something terrible happened in my life and I disappeared, where would you go look for me. They didn't hesitate for a second. "We'd go to the Adoration Chapel, Mom."
If you want to truly know Jesus, come to know Him in the Holy Eucharist.
Fr. John did it again today. He preached a wonderful sermon about the Catholic belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. I don't know if it's posted yet, but it will be soon. You can listen to it by clicking the link in the margin for Fr. John's homilies. I'm so grateful for a teaching Pastor.

To Those Who Refuse to Believe This Is A Christian Nation

Recently, some folks landed on me with both feet when I referred to the United States as a Christian nation. My friend Mimi found that awesome video right from the halls of Congress. Apparently, several of our representatives in Congress did their homework and presented this great address on the floor proving that this has always been a Christian nation. And there are many of us who refuse to allow our own heritage to be taken from us. While we protect everyone elses ethnicity and cultural beliefs, we apparently are bent on refusing our own people their own heritage. I have some ideas about why that is, and I will be addressing those ideas in subsequent articles.

In the meantime, I'm off to exercise my religious freedom while I still have the right to do so.

Just Some Ramblings

These days I'm concentrating on getting the Out of Darkness series on paper and beginning to see what might be missing how it would fit best into a manuscript type of format. It was easy writing it in a series of articles, but it seems to be difficult to form it into a manuscript. The first obstacle was just getting toner for my printer. I have one of those printers that demands that I buy a new yellow cartridge so I can print in black. Who thought of these things?

Anyway, I'm also trying to get an Avon business off the ground. I sold Avon years ago and decided to give it another try. I am a faithful Avon customer, so I decided it would be better to be my own provider.

I am also still making beaded jewelery. To my amazement, I found that my new cell phone's camera takes half way decent pictures of my earrings. That makes no sense since my camera is something like 8 pixels and my phone is maybe 2. But alas the pictures come out better with my phone. So I might actually get some pictures posted.

In my "spare" time I am loving being a Nana. Gabriel is going to be 3 years old this next week! How did that happen!!! And Isaac is going to be 18 months. He's my little angelic being. He goes around the house pointing at the pictures and statues of Jesus saying "Jeja." Which translated is Jesus of course.

Thank you for your prayers for Miss Linda and her family. Her husband's leg is improving. Sadly, today is her last day watching the boys. She is homeschooling her two children and found that babysitting and home school was too difficult. I did that as well, years ago, and it is very hard. We will miss her terribly. She is a wonderful sitter.

My next project blogwise is to finish the articles on the "In The Words" list and then start some articles on living the scriptures. I'm looking forward to working on those.

It struck me yesterday as I posted the video of the little girl talking away and the one before it that the things I post are fairly eclectic. I am a firm believer is seeing the world as it is, but also keeping a smile on my face and enjoying all the blessings that are still happening all around us. This is the scariest time in our history as a faith and as a nation, but I refuse to miss the beauty in rose or the joy of my Grandson's giggle.

Thanks for walking along with me on this journey. Your readership and your prayers are truly a blessing to me.

Patrick Madrid: Gerald Celente: TEOTWAWKI Coming Soon

Patrick Madrid: Gerald Celente: TEOTWAWKI Coming Soon

This article makes me want to cry because I now have precious little Grandsons who will end up fighting this war. But then, if it's a war of mass destruction we might all go to Heaven together. It really boils life down to what matters. Like I told little Isaac last night. Jesus . . . He's everything.

Finally An Actor I Agree With!

I admire Voight's courage in referring to Obama as a false prophet. I've never seen a Presidential race that felt more like a wave of heretical fervor like this last one did. People were calling Obama a prophet, a messiah, a savior. He's going to be the worst thing that has ever happened to us, mark my words.

If the Christians of this world don't get on their knees and get out to vote, we will be a socialist nation in the blink of an eye. Do you enjoy going to Mass on Sunday's without government interference? Take off those rose colored glasses and wear out a Rosary folks. The test starts now.

Chased Home

I was leaving a shopping center near my house. (Actually, it was the same corner where I had the car accident I've written about several times. It's not my favorite place.) When the light turned green, I started my left turn when someone behind me started honking their horn repeatedly. When I had finished my turn the woman behind me flew around me and pulled up next to me with her window down. I heard her shrieking before I actually saw her face. Actually, I saw her hand before I saw her face since she was signalling to me that I was not her favorite person. In fact, she was screaming the same message her finger was sending, probably just for clarification. I looked away, figuring it wasn't always a good idea to make eye contact with irrational people. At this point she pulled up along side me again and repeated her greeting while explaining a little more about what was disturbing her. She screamed "Your bumper stickers! I'm Catholic. I'm democrat. F--- You! She repeated that last sentence several times. The only thing I could think is that this lady has a strange way of sharing her faith. I also thought back to the article I wrote recently about what a Catholic is NOT.

While I was analyzing her theology, she was flying up behind me as though she was going to rear end me. I'm anticipating another insurance claim. I'm also sending up a help call to my Spouse.

Her next maneuver was to pull up in front of me and slow down. Thinking that she was hoping I'd rear end her, I changed lanes and passed her. My turn was coming up, so I pulled into the left turn lane. I was surprised to see her whip in behind me. What are the odds that she would be going the same way I was? Or, is she just following me to make sure I had gotten that last sentence loud and clear?

I made my turn with my friend tailing close behind honking her horn and making a scene. The entrance into my apartment complex wasn't far away, so I was hoping she would pull around me, greet me in her usual congenial manner and be on her way. No such luck. I put my right signal on and, sure enough, she was right on my tail. I told the Lord, well, it looks like were' going to have company, Lord. I'm going to need You real bad!

As I turned into my complex, she jerked off the side of the road and sat at the entrance watching me and making note of where I was living. She sat there for a few seconds and then pulled away.

As I was walking into my apartment and watching for her, I was wondering if perhaps she was raging against the gnawing guilt of an abortion. Was she angry at someone who had hurt her? What was she really angry about? But what bothered me most was how people drop that word "Catholic" like it was a political party you noted on your voter registration or a club you joined, or maybe the nationality you inherited from your Great Grandparents.

I know I sound like a broken record, but a Catholic is someone who believes what the Catholic Church teaches - all of it! In the culture and time of the New Testament, believing wasn't just knowing and agreeing with a fact. It meant dedicating one's life to the truth believed. So when we say that we believe what the Church teaches, it means that we make every decision in accord with what the Church teaches. We live every day in the light of what we know to be true. So as my tailgate clearly says, "You can't be both Catholic and Pro-Choice."

I feel sorry for this lady. She's obviously not at peace. But the bumper stickers are still on the truck. Help me pray for this lady.

Please Pray for Miss Linda and her Family

It's hard to find a good babysitter. And when your Grandchildren are the most precious little people in the world, you want someone who will teach them good things and treat them like their own children. Well, our babysitter and her family has been through some rough waters lately. We've had to take the boys to another sitter now and then, and it really is disconcerting to them to have to move around. I just want to ask for prayer for Miss Linda and her husband. He was hurt on the job recently and is having a lot of difficulty healing. Miss Linda has been struggling with her health as well. Please pray for these folks that they will find their health and peace in the Lord and that our little guys can get back to her loving care. Thanks everyone!
