Jimmy Akin Blogs National Catholic Register NCRegister.com:
Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant pastor or seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith. Eventually, he was compelled in conscience to enter the Catholic Church, which he did in 1992. His conversion story, 'A Triumph and a Tragedy,' is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to This Rock magazine, and a weekly guest on 'Catholic Answers Live.'"
I found Jimmy Akin's story in Surprised By Truth so powerful and heart felt. I've been pleased to see that is he has been able to do the foot work we all wish we could do in order to get to the truth surrounding the most recent and most devastating of the scandals to come to light. With the media and some bitter ex-Catholics nipping at his heels, the Holy Father has been the bulls eye of a media attack that seems determined not to rest until they rock the Vatican. What better time to be submerged in the suffering that sin brings than Lent, right? Well, we all share in this suffering and we all need to be offering our penances for those who have been real victims and for the Holy Father as he faces the wicked furry of those who hate the Catholic Church.
